Gurudev Ravindra Nath Tagore On his 150th birth anniversary
In the history of mankind some such personalities emerged on the earth whose contribution could not be bound under the frame work of time and border of the countries. Gurudev Ravindra Nath Tagore was such a versatile genious . He composed our national Song "Jana-Gana-Mana”. He is considered as international scholar of literature, Drama, Music, Painting and poetry. He has written several memorable books like Geetanjali, Gora, Dakghar, Chokher Bali etc. He was honoured by offering the world highest Noble Award for his contributions in the field of literature, Especially for Geetanjali. He has founded Vishwa Bharti University popularly known as Shanti Niketan keeping in mind the importance of Education in the construction of modern India. In the changing scenario of education, computer literacy became an integral part of modern education system, without which we can't even imagine a developed, prosperous and modern India, in which, there will be no any barrier in acquiring computer education even for the down trodden section of the society. The Rashtriya Computer Sakshartha Mission (RCSM) aims at spreading
computer literacy across the country. RCSM is committed to achieve 100 per cent computer literacy by 2020. At a time when knowledge of computer was limited to only some affluent sections of the society, the RCSM planned to spread computer literacy among the common masses and had made a modest beginning at Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh way back in 1995.
"Under the guidance of able and experienced teachers, the RCSM started providing computer literacy at a very low cost. Within a few years, about 2,000 centers were opened across the country. Till date, the RCSM has provided computer literacy to around 7 lakh people, who are contributing in the nation building .
